The road that never ends

The first 17k of my day on Wednesday looked like this:

So, just sit and stare at that picture for 3.5 hours and we had the same experience. Oh, and probably ram your feet into something so they hurt. Yeah, then you'd be in solidarity.

It was a wonderful sight to see a town again. Some pilgrims skip this part of the trip, and with no shade I could understand if it was summer. However, if the Camino is a metaphor for life, some days you have to get up and face monotony. Some days aren't exciting. Some days you have a more difficult time judging how far you have come and how far you have to go. Some days you just have to put one foot in front of the other. But God woke me up yesterday. I got to spend the day looking at His creation yesterday. I had my health yesterday (despite the arrival of more blisters). An attitude of gratitude, y'all!

I pushed on a city further than I thought. After a day of pain, I had an experience that buoyed my spirits and pushed me an additional 3k. I spent the night in Terradillos de los Templarios, the halfway point! I met a few more Americans and had dinner at the albergue with them. We joked that we were grade-schoolers for getting ready for bed at 8:45 pm.

Onto another day....
