Goodbyes and a new start

This morning I feasted on another breakfast at the seminary. I had to get my €10 worth! The room filled with my pilgrim friends and I knew soon enough it was going to be the end. I was glad to see a friend from England I met in my first albergue experience. If I can see the 'tree amigas' before I leave, I do believe my trip will be perfect in regards to saying goodbye to every pilgrim who touched my life. (Hint, hint, girls!)

When we finished eating, the moment of truth came. And so did the tears. And the hugs. It is very unexpected that people I have known for only a few weeks hold such a place on my life. Saying goodbye to my Russian friend was especially difficult and our hugs were many and long-lasting.

Five of us headed out to walk to Fisterre.
88 more km to walk to the ocean

The walk was under the threat of rain, with dark clouds above. The dance of "poncho on, poncho off" commenced, but soon was clear it needed to stay on. We got rained on, but escaped the first downpour in a cafe. After walking some more, the heavens unleashed on us. My poncho seemed to have a weird fold on the back that led all water to my left shoe. I walked the last 5k with a sopping wet, squishy left foot and a dry right foot.

We arrived at an albergue after a 21k walk. We decided to cook dinner and for €8 each, we got dinner as well as breakfast and lunch for tomorrow. The best deal on the camino!

We had quite an enjoyable dinner and are ready for a big day tomorrow - 33k!
