I know that most people would not to be able to take 4-6 weeks off to walk across another country. I know but I'm lucky. The circumstances that led to me being able to do this do not make me feel lucky but I choose to look at the bright side and see the blessing. I guess you could say I'm making lemonade out of the lemons in my life. Well actually, I'd rather make chocolate con churros than lemonade. (Have I mentioned I'm looking forward to the chocolate?!)
As I've been talking to people in the past week, I keep saying "when you wake up every day, just think 'Erin's still walking...'." Some people have said that it has encouraged them to go out for walks and I think that that would be awesome to have people at home going on their own "mini Caminos" in solidarity. You don't have to take a month off and leave your family and friends like I am to still have the benefit of enjoying nature and taking time to be reflective and/or pray.
So I encourage you, from March 19 through April 27, to go for a walk (or 2 or 3). If you're on social media, post a picture and maybe you'll inspire someone else to do the same. And tag me or use the hasgtag "CaminoSolidarity so I can see your journey, too. Buen Camino!
